2014-2016

With a city mandated rainleader disconnect completed, the coop members wanted to consider options to capture approximately 29,000 sf of rooftop stormwater.

A 1,500 sf bio-infiltration basin with 9" ponding was designed to capture a 10-year, 24-hour 4" rain event before overflowing to the city stormsewer.

The center drive entrance now has a stunning, earth-friendly and functional garden which welcomes residents and visitors to the property. A perimeter planting of rose shrubs adds long blooming formality and a public overlook with educational signage off the city sidewalk engages others to appreciate the space.

The night before volunteer planting, a 100-year storm event was captured onsite. It presented a very good teaching opportunity for residents as they planted shrubs and watched the ponding dissipate into the subsoils.
